Conclusions
-
1.
Carbonyl-containing derivatives of 2-tetrahydrofuroic acid form H-complexes with phenol in CCl4 solution.
-
2.
The proton-acceptor centers in the molecules of the derivatives of 2-tetrahydrofuroic acid are the oxygen atoms of the carbonyl group and the heterocycle. As the carbonyl group is removed further from the tetrahydrofuran ring, the magnitude of the energy of the H-complex becomes equal to that for tetrahydrofuran.
