Influence of spinel formation on Fischer-Tropsch synthesis in the presence of Co/Al2O3 catalysts

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The formation of stoichiometric spinels CoAl2O4 in the composition of impregnated Co/Al2O3 catalysts during the time of preliminary heat-treatment of the catalysts leads to increases in the yield of hydrocarbons in synthesis from CO and H2.

  2. 2.

Treatment of the impregnated Co catalysts with a small quantity of air leads to a change in selectivity without any loss of catalyst activity, apparently because of the formation of an additional number of active centers of CO chemisorption that participate in the formation of liquid products from CO and H2.
