Synthesis of 15-Hydroxypentadecanoic and 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic acids

Summary

  1. 1.

    15-Hydroxypentadecanoic acid was synthesized by several routes from 1,1,1,7-tetrachloroheptane and 1,1,1,9-tetrachlorononane.

  2. 2.

    16-Hydroxyhexadecanoic acid was synthesized from 1,1,1,7-tetrachloroheptane and 1,1,1,9-tetrachlorononane via the correspondingω-chloro carboxylic acids.
