Conclusions

  1. 1.

The IR spectra of a number of calcium aluminates (CA, CA2, and C12A7) and adsorbents (galumins) produced on the basis of them, with various values of the specific surface from 30 to 400 m2/g in the interval 4000-400 cm−1, were studied.

  2. 2.

The absorption bands in the region of 550–650 cm−1 characterize the chain vibrations of the Al tetrahedra in the, framework zeolite-like structure.

  3. 3.

Depending on the method of production, value of the specific surface, and CaO cong cntent, the galumins studied can be divided into two groups: with a framework structure (containialcium aluminates) and consisting of aluminum oxide.

  4. 4.

Water exists in various forms in galumins: in the molecular-adsorption form and in the form of OH groups of the surface, in Ca(OH)2, Al(OH)3, and calcium hydroaluminates.
