Conclusions
The acylation of arylacetylenes by cationoid reagents in the presence of aromatic hydrocarbons proceeds as a reaction of stereospecific trans-addition, and leads to a high yield ofβ, β-diarylvinyl ketones with a strictly fixed configuration of the aromatic groups.
