Conclusions
-
1.
Ru-C catalyzes the disproportionation of the cyclohexadienes to cyclohexene and benzene (inert atmosphere, 80°C). In the presence of hydrogen (20°C) the ratioof the 1, 3-cyclohexadiene disproportionation/hydrogenation rates is 4–20 times smaller than on other group VIII metals.
-
2.
On Ru-C the relative adsorbability, and the rate and selectivity of hydrogenation, are lower for 1,4-cyclohexadiene than for 1,3-cyclohexadiene.
-
3.
1, 4-Cyclohexadiene experiences unusually strong adsorption displacement by the reaction product, namely benzene, which deactivates the catalyst.
