Abstract

The extraction of HSCN with Aliquat 336 (thiocyanide form) has been studied within a wide concentration range. The mechanism of the extraction process has been considered. It was established that at low concentrations (to about 0.05M-) the dimerized extracting agent reacts with HSCN according to the equation: (TKMA · SCN)20 + H w + +SCN w ⇌ (TKMA · SCN)2HSCN o while at high concentrations, the quantitative description of the extraction is more complex, due to the high degree of association of the extracting agent. It was found that with the increase of HSCN concentration in the organic phase, the H2O content decreases, but the H2O replaced is less than the acid bound.
