Synthesis of poly(ester amides) copolymerization of lactone with lactam

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

It was shown that it is theoretically possible to copolymerize ɛ-caprolactone with ɛ-caprolactam in the presence of triisobutylaluminum, which leads to the formation of poly(ester amides) with a high molecular weight.

  2. 2.

In order to find the optimum conditions for running the copolymerization process, a study was made of the effect of temperature, reaction time and amount of catalyst on the yield and viscosity of the formed copolymers.

  3. 3.

It was established that poly(ester amides) can be obtained by running the copolymerization of ɛ-caprolactam with ɛ-polycaprolactone in the presence of triisobutylaluminum.
