Abstract
The ternary systems: Cr−{P,As}−C have been investigated (quenched samples, from 1000°C). A crystal structure of Cr12P7 is proposed\((P\bar 6)\). Cr2As(h) dissolves carbon; the interstitial mode is changing in a second step to an As/C substitution, forming a partially ordered Fe2P-type structure. Cr6P2.6C0.4 in contrast is a ternary phase of the same structure type. The existence of Cr3PC at 1000°C can be confirmed while Cr3AsC occurs in the presence of some nitrogen. Cr5PB2 belongs to the ordered Cr5B3 structure type, Cr∼4.5P2B is of the ordered W5Si3 structure type.
