Summary

  1. 1.

The copolymerization of 2-methyloxetane with tetrahydrofuran and with epichlorohydrin when subjected to the action of the cationic catalysts BF3·O(C2H5)2, BF3·O(CH2)4 together with glycols, Al(C2H5)3 and SnCl4 has been studied.

  2. 2.

Copolymers of 2-methyloxetane with tetrahydrofuran having terminal hydroxide groups were obtained.

  3. 3.

2-Methyloxetane exhibits a higher relative activity in the copolymerization reaction than does tetrahydrofuran or epichlorohydrin.
