Conclusions

  1. 1.

In systems with a nonsymmetrical arrangement of the unshared electron pairs (UEP) relative to the axis of symmetry, the dipole moments (DM) of the UEP must be taken into consideration, while in systems with a symmetrical arrangement of the UEP, the DM of the UEP enter into the DM of the bonds obtained according to an additive scheme.

  2. 2.

A quantum mechanical consideration of the DM of the C-O, C-S, and S-O bonds, as well as the UEM of the sulfur atom, was performed by the MO LCAO method.

  3. 3.

The most probable values of the DM of the bonds and UEP were calculated for an additive calculation of the DM of molecules of sulfides, sulfites, and sulfoxides.
