Synthesis of 2,4- and 2,5-dialkyltetrahydrothiophenes

Summary

Some 2,4- and 2,5-dialkyltetrahydrothiophenes were prepared by conversion of the corresponding tetrahydrofuran homologs into 1,4-dibromoalkanes and cyclization of the latter under the action of sodium sulfide into dialkyltetrahydrothiophenes.
