Röntgenkleinwinkelstreuung an Hexon aus Adenovirus Typ 2

Abstract

The small angle scattering of hexon dissolved in ammonium acetate buffer was investigated. The radius of gyration was found to be 47 Å and the radius of gyration of the cross-section 30 Å. If the molecules are cylindrical or prismatic, as indicated by the electron microscopy, the length of the molecule would be b25 Å. The results indicate that the hexon molecule in solution has the same shape as found by electron microscopy.

Zusammenfassung

Die Kleinwinkelstreuung von Hexon in Ammoniumacetatpuffer wurde untersucht. Aus den Streukurven wurden der Streumassenradius zu 47 Å und der Querschnittsstreumassenradius zu 30 Å ermittelt. Wenn die Moleküle zylindrisch oder prismatisch sind, wie die Elektronenmikroskopiestudien andeuten, wäre die Länge des Moleküls 125 Å. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß das Hexonmolekül in Lösung dieselbe Form hat, wie mit Elektronenmikroskopie gefunden wurde.
