Abstract
The question of estimating the oscillator strengths in the region of the π → π* electron transition in the spectra of benzene-base polymers (polyarylene alkyls) is considered. It is shown that the intensity of the 0-0 transition is determined by the degree of participation of the E2g vibration, which removes the ban from this transition.
