Binding energy and rates of Σ-hyperon decays of double hypernuclei

Abstract

The binding energies of double hypernuclei are calculated as a function of mass number. Estimates are made for the width of the Σ-hyperon decay channel of double hypernuclei. Significant suppression of this channel due to Σ-to-Λ conversion is found in heavy hypernuclei.
