Dependence of the growth rate of crystal whiskers on their diameter

Abstract

The growth kinetics of silicon crystal whiskers is investigated in this paper. An explanation is given of the results obtained on the basis of the kinetic equation of crystal whisker (CW) growth. An equation is proposed to describe CW growth under the condition that seed formation is the limiting stage of the growth process.
