Study of peritectic transformations in crystallization of alloys of the Al-Ni, Al-Co, and Sb-Zn systems. II

Abstract

High rates of melt cooling (up to ∼104 deg/sec) do not lead to the delay of peritectic transformations in crystallization of alloys of the Al-Ni and Al-Co systems. Neither are supersaturated (with Ni or Co) aluminum-base solid solutions formed. A melt corresponding to the composition of the compound ZnSb crystallizes at high cooling rates according to the particular diagram of Sb- ZnSb with the formation of eutectics and ZnSb crystals that are not in equilibrium with respect to composition or structure.
