Abstract
The position of interstitial atoms of hydrogen in the lattice of a metal solvent is considered. The probability of their positions is estimated under the assumption that they behave like linear uncoupled oscillators. Calculations are made using experimental data on the solubility of hydrogen and deuterium in metals with bcc and fcc structure.
