Editor's note-The author is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology who spends the major portion of his time in the private practice of individual and group psychotherapy. He has worked with therapeutic communities since 1964, and has served as a consultant and evaluator in milieu therapy and therapeutic community programs at the Bronx State Hospital and Hillside Hospital, New York, for the past 6 years.
