Criterion of adhesion strength in the presence of normal and shear stresses

  • Published:
Polymer Mechanics Aims and scope

Abstract

A criterion of the short-time adhesion strength is proposed for the case where the interphase surface is subjected to the combined action of normal and shear stresses. The proposed criterion is based on the assumption that at the moment of adhesion failure a definite relation exists between τoct and σoct. The proposed criterion has been experimentally confirmed.
