Abstract
A method is proposed for determining the propagation velocity and coefficient of attenuation of ultrasonic vibrations in both the whole diaphysis of the human tibia and in specimens taken from it. The nonuniform distribution of the acoustic characteristics over the zones of the cross section of the diaphysis has been experimentally established. The variation of these characteristics over the inner and outer layers of each zone has been studied. Spearman rank correlation coefficients for the ultrasonic parameters of the whole diaphysis and the specimens are determined.
