Polymer friction in the initial stage of slip

  • Published:
Polymer Mechanics Aims and scope

Abstract

A description is given of a tribometer (TMP-3) for investigating the initial and steady-state stages of slip under atmospheric conditions on the temperature interval from +250 to −100°C at positive and negative loads from −40 to 10 kgf and slicing velocities from 0.01 to 10 mm/min. The maximum force of friction at the initial moment of slip is investigated with reference to the example of PMM sliding over polished steel.
