Reaction ofα-hydroxymethylmalonic and bis-(α-hydroxymethyl)malonic esters with trialkyl phosphites

Summary

  1. 1.

    The reactions of α-hydroxymethylmalonic and bis-(α-hydroxymethyl)malonic esters with triethyl phosphite, trimethyl phosphite, and diethyl chlorophosphite have been studied.

  2. 2.

    Diethyl 2,2-dicarbethoxyethylphosphonate was obtained from the reactions ofα-hydroxymethylmalonic ester with triethylphosphite and diethyl chlorophosphite.

  3. 3.

    2-Alkoxy-2-oxo-4,4-dicarbethoxy-1-oxa-2-phospholans were isolated from the reaction of bis-(α-hydroxymethyl) malonic ester with trialkyl phosphites and with diethyl chlorophosphite.
