Summary
-
1.
A Grignard reagent is a catalyst for the slow polymerization of alkyl vinyl ethers.
-
2.
Alkyl vinyl ether polymers of high molecular weight were prepared in presence of butylmagnesium bromide. The crystalline fractions of these polymers were isolated, and their x-ray diagrams were obtained.
-
3.
A hypothesis is advanced concerning the cause of the low activity of a Grignard reagent as a catalyst in the polymerization of alkyl vinyl ethers.
