Conclusions

  1. 1.

The adsorption isotherms of diethyl ether were measured at 50, 60, and 71°, those of ethyl chloride at 50 and 71°, and that of chloroform at 60° on activated charcoal, as well as the adsorption isotherm of ethyl chloride-diethyl ether mixtures at 50 and 60° and a diethyl ether-chloroform mixture at 60° on the same charcoal.

  2. 2.

An equation was proposed for the summary adsorption of the components of the binary mixture of vapors, representing a generalization of the Dubinin-Radushkevich equation for the adsorption of an individual substance on adsorbents of the first structural type. This equation well describes the experimental data obtained.

  3. 3.

The generalized Dubinin-Radushkevich equation, in conjunction with the known empirical Lewis equation, permits an approximate calculation of the values of the adsorption of each component from the mixture according to the set partial equilibrium pressures of the components, if the phase diagram of volume solutions of these substances is known.

  4. 4.

The differential heats of adsorption of the components from the mixture were calculated for the ethyl chloride-diethyl ether system.
