Summary
-
1.
The aluminum peroxy compound formed by reaction between triethylaluminum andα,α- dimethylbenzyl hydroperoxide is unstable and, depending on the temperature, is converted into an alkoxy compound or decomposes with formation of free radicals.
-
2.
Organoaluminum compounds initiate radical polymerization only under conditions that ensure their conversion into the corresponding peroxy derivatives.
