Abstract
Defocusing and high resolution techniques were used to study the mass spectrometric decomposition of monoalkoxy-symm-triazines. Such decomposition was found to differ significantly from that of the corresponding dialkoxy and trialkoxy derivatives since, in addition to fragmentation of the side chain in various decomposition steps, decomposition of the heterocycle is also found with elimination of neutral ClCN, ClCNH, and HOCN fragments.
