Abstract
In acute experiments on adult dogs during electrical stimulation of the anterior part of the limbic cortex, and increase in the lymph flow from the intestinal lymphatic duct, an increase in the volume of the mesenteric lymph glands, a fall in the blood pressure in the cranial mesenteric artery, a reduction in the outflow of blood from the corresponding vein, and a decrease in the tone of the mesenteric veins were observed. Constriction of the mesenteric veins and the increase in the intestinal lymphatic flow are regarded as a compensatory response aimed at restoring the initial level of the arterial pressure as quickly as possible.
