Hydrodynamics of a granular medium

  • Published:
Journal of engineering physics Aims and scope

Abstract

The hydrodynamic characteristics of loose granular media are studied experimentally, with due allowance for particular aspects of the pore space structure (the sinuous nature of the paths of penetration and the efficiency with which the intergranular spaces take part in filtration); the results show that λ Re ≈ 80, up to Reynolds numbers of Recr ≈ 5.
