Effect of negative masses in the statistical theory of multiple creation

  • Published:
Soviet Physics Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

The general statistical method of the microcanonical ensemble is used to calculate the statistical weights of a system which contains both positive and negative mass particles. It is shown that the probability of creation of an infinite number of particles in a system is equal to unity, whereas the probability of creation of a finite number of particles is zero. This reveals a further difficulty which appears when negative masses are introduced.
