Abstract
Actinomycin D and cyclohexamide, inhibitors of protein synthesis, inhibit the formation of endogenous pyrogen by the blood granulocytes induced by bacterial lipopolysaccharide and specific antigranulocytic serum but do not affect the secretion of pyrogen by exudate leukocytes. This shows that the inhibitors inhibit the activation phase but not the process of liberation of the pyrogen.
