Conclusions
-
1.
It is shown that metal-glass composites can be successfully used as antifriction materials for journal bearings operating in aqueous solutions of caustic soda.
-
2.
A study was made of the wear resistance of sintered iron base antifriction materials with additions of 1–10% of VVS glass, graphite, and molybdenum disulfide.
-
3.
The optimum glass content, giving the least wear and the lowest value of coefficient of friction under the testing conditions selected, was determined.
