Production of sintered permalloy type alloys

  • Published:
Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

A procedure has been developed for the production, by powder metallurgy methods, of Permalloy type (nickel-iron) soft magnetic alloys, ensuring reproducibility of alloy composition to ±0.3% (as against the usual figure of ±0.5%). The alloys are characterized by a low gas content and a high degree of homogeneity in microvolumes, and can have zero magnetostriction.

  2. 2.

It has been established that in principle it is possible to replace alloys manufactured by the melting process by analogous powder metallurgy alloys in the manufacture of magnetic films.

  3. 3.

The procedure developed has been utilized for the production of ternary and more complex alloys of high magnetic parameters, intended for the manufacture of magnetic film matrices of computer memory devices.
