1.
A new device of a design that differs in principle has been developed. The device makes it possible to determine under laboratory conditions the distortion of steel machine parts induced by relaxation of residual stresses.

2.
If a part made of steel 35 is distorted only due to relaxation of residual stresses at standard temperature then the distortion can be prevented by heating to low temperature (∼100–150°) for 3–4 h. When the sample is heated at successively higher temperatures and the distortion is determined after heating each time then the distortion decreases noticeably in the temperature range of 200–350°.
