Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Numerous dimensionless characteristics of a porous body having values between 0 and 1 can be considered as corresponding to probabilities.

  2. 2.

Apart from the probability of encounter between the particles, the probability that the particles will stick together or part company must also be allowed for. Differently expressed, this amounts to the probability of the retention or rupture of the contact bonds. The probability of the particles sticking together is expressed by the characteristic z = dω/dϑ and the probability of parting company by x=1−z. Other concepts introduced are the mean probability of the particles sticking together za and the cyclic probability zcy.

  3. 3.

Numerous equations are presented expressing the relations between the characteristics z,ω,α, andϑ Physical and technical factors also affect the nature of these relations.
