Summary
A method has been evolved for experimental investigation of cermets at high temperatures in a complex stressed state.
It is shown that durability of components made of the material investigated, and working in these conditions, cannot be assessed by strength criteria applicable to failure at normal temperatures.
An equation was found for the limit curve of a silicon carbide cermet at 1250°K which agrees well with experimental data in the range of stressed states investigated.
