Summary
-
1.
To describe fully the particle-size characteristics of a powder, it is necessary to determine its particle-size distribution curve; this may be performed by the turbidimetric method of analysis.
-
2.
The specific surface of a powder may be determined under industrial conditions with sufficient accuracy by the method of gas flow ratios.
-
3.
For powders with particles smaller than 2–5μ, apparent density is not a reliable measure of their particle-size characteristics.
