Chemistry of 1,1,2,2-tetracyanoethane. Reaction of 1,1,2,2-tetracyanoethane with α-dicarbonyl compounds

Abstract

1,1,2,2-Tetracyanoethane reacts with α-dicarbonyl compounds in water to form 7-amino-4-hydroxy-1,8-dicyano-3-aza-6-oxabicyclo-[3.3.0]oct-7-en-2-ones. Their structures were confirmed by IR,13C NMR and mass spectra.
