Perfluorinated aliphatic acids as additives regulating the wetting of metals by oils

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

It was shown that perfluorinated monocarboxylic acids are effective additives for preventing the spread of lubricating oils.

  2. 2.

Considering the conditions of application, the most promising additive of the recommended class is perfluoroenanthic acid in a concentration of 0.2–0.3% by weight.

  3. 3.

Simultaneously with regulation of the wetting, perfluoro acids substantially improve the antifriction properties of lubricating oils.
