Conclusions
-
1.
Ni(4-methypyridine)4(SCN)2 is a complex possessing high selectivity; in the extraction of p-xylenes from mixtures it retains its selectivity during repeated use.
-
2.
The use of a solvent provides for recirculation and continuity of the process.
-
3.
The effectiveness of the separation increases substantially when ammonium oxalate and ethanolammonium thiocyanate are added to the solvent.
-
4.
In two-step clathration, products of almost 100% purity can be obtained.
