Hydrocracking of Romashkin and Arlansk tars in a three-phase fluidized bed

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Hydrocracking of Romashkin and Arlansk tars under mild conditions gives M-40 heating oils in yields of 90.4 and 86.3%, respectively, with a sulfur content of not more than 1.0% and a vanadium content of not more than 65 g/ton.

  2. 2.

An increase of the temperature in the hydrocracking reactor from 400 to 425°C leads to a decrease in the yield of boiler fuel by almost twice, with a considerable increase in the yield of the distillate fraction 180–350°C, suitable for use in the production of light diesel fuel.

  3. 3.

In the development of new hydrocracking catalysts and in the selection of optimal conditions for this process, it is important to take account of the completeness of the transition of the sulfur in the feedstock into hydrogen sulfide, as this is the most important industrial criterion of the activity of the catalyst.
