Conclusions
-
1.
In the process of vacuum annealing of welded samples of alloy OT4 at 660° for 2 h (residual pressure p≤7.65·10−3 Pa) a gas-saturated diffusion layer with high brittleness is formed, which may lead to premature failure of structures in the course of operation.
-
2.
The gas-saturated layer formed on the surface of the metal as a result of vacuum annealing at 550° for 2 h is of negligible thickness and has no essential effect on the service life of the structure.
-
3.
To improve the service life of thin welded joints of alloy OT4 we recommend partial annealing in vacuum at 550° in place of full annealing.
