Abstract
Single crystals of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) were grown from supersaturated aqueous solution by a slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure of these crystals was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The ADP crystals showed an ohmic behaviour up to 800 volts with a resistivity of 4.6×106 Ω cm at room temperature. The electrical conductivity temperature dependence showed two distinct regions separated by a knee at 92 °C. Below the knee, the conductivity is slightly temperature dependent while above the knee it is highly temperature dependent. The values of activation energy were estimated as 0.480 eV and 0.135 eV above and below the knee, respectively. The conduction processes above and below the knee were explained by the mechanism of phosphate group rotation and proton jump, respectively. Thermal analysis as well as XRD confirmed the knee temperature.
