Conclusions

  1. 1.

A combined study of resistance to microplastic deformations and the parameters of exoelectronic emission makes it possible to determine with great accuracy the structural changes in the surface layer of bearing steel ShKh15, which is necessary in order to increase the wear resistance of instrument bearings.

  2. 2.

A more stable surface layer can be created in the steel by tempering at 250°C for 3 h after quenching and stabilization tempering at 1400°C for 24 h after grinding. This will produce the highest resistance to microplastic deformations, the highest temperature at which the emission current begins to increase, and the lowest intensity of emission.

  3. 3.

Our study indicates a qualitatively new surface layer on steel ShKh15 after polishing, the nature of which requires further study.
