1.
During tempering of quenched steel Kh25N16G7A a phase consisting of chromium carbide and nitride is precipitated. When the carbon content of the steel is increased from 0.07 to 0.11% the amount of phase precipitated increases approximately 25% due to the increase in the amount of the carbide component.
It must be assumed that a carbonitride phase is precipitated even when the steel is not cooled sufficiently rapidly from the quenching temperature.

Steel Kh25N16G7A with 0.07% C has a satisfactory ductility down to \t-196\dgC after quenching and after tempering at 600–900\dgC.
