Conclusions

  1. 1.

The inhibition period of the decomposition of deformed austenite in the pearlite and intermediate regions decreases with increasing degree of deformation. The rate of decomposition during isothermal heating increases most intensely when the degree of swaging is higher than 75%.

  2. 2.

More than 50% deformation of supercooled austenite in the zone of relative stability induces an increase of the temperature of the martensite point and leads to a more complete martensitic transformation.

  3. 3.

The degree of strengthening of austenite depends on the deformation temperature. The loss of strength of deformed austenite during heating begins at temperatures above 600°C.

  4. 4.

There is a relationship between the degree of strengthening of austenite resulting from deformation and the strength of the martensite created from it. This relationship is related to the deformation temperature. Above the temperature at which deformed austenite actively begins to lose strength, a greater strengthening of austenite is necessary to obtain the same strength in the quenched steel as after strengthening at lower temperatures.
