Luminescence yield of ruby with electron excitation

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

Abstract

The emission spectra of ruby on electron excitation are investigated for various temperatures and current densities. The luminescence yield of ruby on excitation by an electron beam is determined. The effectiveness of excitation energy transfer from the lattice to the chromium ions is evaluated. The possibility of generation at the depth of electron beam penetration into the crystal is discussed.
