Abstract
Laser Raman spectroscopy has been used to obtain degrees of ionization (α) for three alkanesulfonic acids in aqueous solution at 25°C. PMR shift measurements using an internal standard give confirmatory values of α. Ionization constants estimated are 83±2 (Me), 48±2 (Et), and 34±6 (Pr) mole-kg−1.
