Abstract

A linear excitation of electromagnetic modes at frequencies\( \simeq (n + \tfrac{1}{2})\omega _{ce} \), in a plasma through which two electron beams are contra-streaming along the magnetic field is investigated. This may be a source of the observed\(\tfrac{3}{2}\omega _{ce} \) emissions at auroral latitudes.
