Equilibrium figures with a magnetic field

Abstract

A set of equations which are magnetohydrodynamic equilibrium conditions in the case of axial symmetry is solved. The possibility of splitting Maclaurin's sequence in the presence of a magnetic field is shown. The effect of a forceless magnetic field on Maclaurin'sP-ellipsoid is investigated.
